Tom Munro, formerly Enterprise Membership Manager at East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), has been appointed Centre Manager at Friars Mill in Leicester.
A prime office development, Friars Mill is Leicester’s oldest factory, dating back to 1739 and home to the Donisthorpe factory which closed in 2006. The site is of significant architectural and archaeological interest, being used as a Dominican Friary in the 12th Century and retaining a host of historical features both above and below ground.
Tom has worked for the Chamber since 2008, having a background in customer service and business support. Prior to joining the current Chamber, Tom worked for both Barnsley and Rotherham, and Sheffield Chambers, where he implemented a number of schemes including care plans and the UK’s first student membership scheme.
Friars Mill has been sympathetically refurbished to create 15 well-shaped office spaces, combining original features with the latest technology. In addition to allocated parking, tenants will also benefit from close proximity to transport links as well as on-site cycle lockers, changing facilities and showers.
Tom said: “Friars Mill offers a fantastic opportunity for businesses which have outgrown existing accommodation, to move to a larger office yet remain within the City. The riverside location being a short walk from Highcross gives tenants the best of both worlds. Having the Chamber and Business Gateway Team on site, as well as my own experience of providing business support, will ensure that Friars Mill provides a thriving, dynamic and collaborative environment for growing businesses.”
Friars Mill is set to open this spring.
