PEOPLE in Leicester are being given another chance to put their questions directly to City Mayor Peter Soulsby at an event next month.

City residents are being invited to send in their questions and bid for a place in the audience at the City Mayor’s Question Time session, which will take place at Hamilton Library on Wednesday 13 April.

Similar in format to the BBC’s Question Time programme, the event is being supported by BBC Radio Leicester, which will record the question-and-answer session for broadcast at a later date.

BBC Radio Leicester will select the questions to be asked at the session, which will be chaired by their Drive Time presenter, Ben Jackson.

City Mayor Peter Soulsby said: “Hamilton Library is in a great location – right next to Tesco – so it’s an excellent venue for the second of our Question Time events.

“I hope we’ll receive a wide range of questions from the people of Hamilton and the surrounding area and I’m looking forward to an evening of good discussion and debate.“

The City Mayor will be joined on the panel by deputy city mayor Cllr Rory Palmer and assistant city mayor for neighbourhood services, Cllr Kirk Master.

Questions and requests for a place in the audience can be submitted by filling in the online form at www.leicester.gov.uk/citymayor, or by calling 454 0001.

Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

People should submit their requests by the closing date of 1 April 2016.

Those who have been successful in obtaining a place will be contacted with further details within a few days of the closing date.

The City Mayor will respond by email to any questions that can’t be answered on the night.

And people can continue to ask their questions via the methods already in use, by tweeting them to @CityMayorLeic, by emailing TheMayor@leicester.gov.uk, or by submitting them for inclusion at a meeting of the full council. More details are available by searching for ‘council questions’ at www.leicester.gov.uk.

The City Mayor’s Question Time takes place at 7pm on Wednesday 13 April at Hamilton Library. The library is at 20 Maidenwell Avenue, Leicester LE5 1BL (next to Tesco).

April’s event is the second City Mayor’s Question Time. The first event was held at Leicester’s Pork Pie Library in October 2015.
